Vietnam War Protest

The Vietnam War was the hot topic during the early and mid 1970's. The protest against the Vietnam War is one of the most memorable protests in American history. It is remembered for the emotion that it brought out in people. Almost everyone had an opinion on the war and were very liberal about telling others what they thought. This led to many heated protests that even turned violent. One of the most famous of these protests is known as the Kent Sate Shootings. It occured on May 4th 1970 on the campus of Kent State University. There had been a protest on the campus against American troops in Vietnam and Cambodia. The protest got large enough that the national guard was sent in to try and difuse the situation. The situation only got worse and it lead to 9 people being wounded and 4 people being killed by Naional Guardsmen who shot into the crowd. This scene garnered national attention and lead to more protest against the war. The effects of the protests are seen in modern day society as many peole are protesting agaisnt the war in Iraq in many of the same ways that people id back in the 60's and 70's.
